Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPS Technicians) come from many different backgrounds and specialties; one thing they have in common is a desire to keep kids safe when they travel. The CPS Technician certification is a nationally recognized professional certification that prepares individuals to help families at public safety events, private car seat clinics, or workshops.

Registration for CPS Technician certification classes is done through the Safe Kids Certification online system. To find and register for a certification class, visit Safe Kids Certification. The North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program (GHSP) offers a limited number of scholarships through Safe Kids NC to cover travel expenses of students attending a state sponsored or co-sponsored class. Scholarships cover lodging and meals only (reimbursed at State per diem rates). Mileage to and from class is not covered.
