The following information can help you figure out when a used car seat is NOT safe to use. If you are not sure about the answer to any of the questions, it is best not to use the seat. Before using any car seat, you should contact the manufacturer to register it and confirm it is not recalled. If needed, the manufacturer will also be able to provide the car seat’s instruction manual.

1. Does the seat have a label with the model name, model number, and manufacture date? (Needed for expiration date and to look up recall information)

4. Does the seat show signs of damage (cracks, tears, rust, fraying)?
